'Kantara' breaks KGF record, crosses 100 crores at the box office

                                                         Rashabh Shetty's 'Kantara' is doing wonders at the box office. Produced by Homebale Films, which produced blockbuster films like KGF, the film was released in Kannada on September 30. The opening of the film was less than two crores at the box office on the first day. But the film's earnings more than doubled in the next two days and since then 'Kanthara' has never collected less than 3.5 crores at the box office.

                                       Along with pan India release 'Ponniyin Selvan - 1' and Hindi big film 'Vikram Veda', 'Kantara' released in very limited screens in South India was taken by the audience. On October 14, 'Kanthara' was also released in Hindi. It is getting great audience response.'Kantara' has crossed 100 crores at the worldwide box office. Based on the local culture and mythology, the story of this film is enthralling the audience and all the theaters where the shows are held are crowded. This is the reason why the film's box office collection soared despite its limited release.


                                                                     This is a big opportunity for the Kannada film industry as it is the fourth Kannada film to cross 100 crores worldwide this year. Earlier, the films KGF 2, 'Vikrant Rona, 777 Charlie' have created awe. 'Kanthara' is another big hit for Homebale Films after KGF2 which collected around Rs 1200 crores at the worldwide box office. Kantar has reportedly earned more revenue than KGF 2 in Karnataka.



                                                            Yash's 'KGF 2' had set the record for the highest gross collection in the second week of Rs 34.2 crore. From the collection of (PS-1), PS-1, which was a pan-Indian release, collected Rs 54.85 crore in its second week.The Hindi version of Kantara also released in theaters on Friday. Initial reports suggest that Hindi has also taken a good start at the box office. The opening box office collection of 'Kantara' Hindi is estimated to be close to 1.2 crores, but the real news is the advance bookings for 'Kantara' Hindi on Saturday.


                                                         As of Friday, reports suggest that more than 18,000 tickets of the film have been booked in advance and the booking gross will be over Rs 32 lakh. More than 20 thousand tickets were sold in advance booking of the film on Saturday.Advance booking gross is around 38 lakhs. 'Kantara' received a very strong response from Hindi audiences and critics alike. Considering the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam dubbing versions, the film is expected to make a big dent in its box office earnings.
